Big Bash League New Rules
A number of new rules have been added to the tournament which could greatly impact your Big Bash betting this year. Some of the major rules changes you should take into consideration are:
Power Surges
The ‘Power Surge’ is a period of two over in which the fielding team may only place two fielders outside the inner fielding circle. The batting side may call a Power Surge at any point from the 11th over onwards in their innings. Our Big Bash prediction is that this rule will likely increase the number of runs scored in the back end of each innings.
The X Factor
The ‘X-factor’ rules require each team to name either a 12th or 13th player on the team sheet. This X-Factor player will be eligible to come into the game after the 10th over of the first innings. They may only replace a player who is yet to bat or has bowled no more than one over. Be sure to take into account the depth of teams in the 12th and 13th man position when you bet on Big Bash this year.
Bash Boost
The ‘Bash Boost’ awards the team chasing a boost point if they’re above the equivalent 10-over score of their opposition. If they’re trailing, the fielding side will receive the point. Teams are now awarded three points for winning matches, as opposed to the traditional two.
Big Bash Betting Types
A wide variety of Big Bash betting types are expected to be available upon the commencement of the tournament. Bet types will likely include both pre-match and live betting options. Some of the most popular ways to bet on Big Bash League matches include:
Match Betting
Match betting is the simplest of the Big Bash betting types. It refers to a bet on Big Bash matches in which a bettor picks one team to win over the other. Each Big Bash matchup provides another match betting option.
Outright Winner
Outright winner bets require punters to predict the overall winner of the Big Bash Tournament. The winner is decided by the Big Bash Final at the end of the season. The Big Bash odds for outright winner wagers can change drastically through the tournament based on the performance of teams. Outright bets are the only betting type available before the start of the season.
Tied Match
A Tied match bet on Big Bash League matches gives you the option of wagering on whether the match will end in a draw. A match that ends with level scores at the end of regulation is considered a tie. Although the match may be decided with a ‘Super Over,’ the result for betting purposes will still be a tie. Rained out or abandoned matches will also result in a tie.
Top Batsmen
A ‘Top Batsmen’ bet is a prop bet which allows you to wager on which batsmen you think will score the most runs. The bet is available both for a single match and for the tournament as a whole.
Handicap Betting
Handicap betting attempts to level out matchups by giving the favourite a handicap. The handicap can be provided two ways:
- the team batting first can win by a certain number of runs
- the team batting second can win by several wickets.
Wagers on the favourite must win by the handicap. Wagers on the underdog must lose by no more than the handicap.
4 Big Bash Tips For 2020 -21
Looking for a slight edge when you bet on the Big Bash League in 2021? The four Big Bash tips below might be exactly what you need to make amazing bets this year.
In-Play Value
In-play betting can be a very powerful tool when used correctly. T20 matches have a tendency to have big swings in odds with key wickets and momentum. If you’re patient and ready to place quick wagers, you may have the chance to hedge your bets over the course of a match. This way you can win no matter who ends up the victor!
Live Betting Disclaimer: Please note: due to the Interactive Gambling Act in Australia, any form of live betting cannot be conducted online. Play betting can only be conducted via telephone.
Roster Changes
Before you make your Big Bash predictions this year be sure to take into account the rosters changes of each team. Many teams have been able to add to their talent pools whereas a few teams have lost key players. These changes could be very telling in the overall outcome of the league when you bet on Big Bash outrights.
New Rules
One of the key Big Bash tips to consider when you bet on Big bash this year is the change in rules. With the addition of the Power Surge, you can expect totals to be slightly higher than previous iterations. The X factor rule will also give teams with deeper rosters the chance to switch out players based on the conditions.
The Toss
The toss can be a huge factor when you bet Big Bash League games in 2020-2021. Winning the toss can be a huge advantage, especially on certain grounds that are easier/harder to bat or bowl first on. Certain teams could also favour batting first or chasing down totals. By in-play betting after the toss, you may be able to make more informed bets, based on your team.
